This puppy has been examined by our veterinarian and found to have no visible health issues. The buyer may seek a second opinion from a veterinarian of their choice within 72 hours of receiving the puppy.  If no second opinion is obtained within that timeframe, the Buyer accepts the assessment made by the Seller/Breeder's veterinarian.

Return Within 30-Day Policy: Tailwind Labradors is committed to ensuring that every puppy placement is a great match. If the puppy proves unsuitable for your lifestyle, you may return him/her within 30 days of purchase for a refund, minus any non-refundable deposit(s) and veterinary expenses incurred at return. The puppy must be examined by our veterinarian and receive a clean bill of health. Refunds will be issued after the exam confirms the puppy is healthy. This requirement ensures the safety of our dogs, as we cannot verify what the puppy may have been exposed to outside our care. Refunds after 30 days are subject to breeder discretion.

Rehoming Notification: If the Buyer is unable to care for the dog at anytime during its life, they must notify the Seller/Breeder as required by this contract. The Buyer agrees to never sell, surrender or place the dog in any rescue organization, humane society, pet shop, puppy mill, or similar entity. Our goal is to ensure lifelong, loving homes for all of our dogs. We understand that life circumstances may change and we will assist with rehoming the dog - no questions asked - including accepting the dog's return to Tailwind Labradors. Please note: no refund will be issued, as proper care and rehoming of older dogs may involve significant expense.

AKC Registration: This puppy is sold with Limited AKC Registration, meaning breeding rights are not included. Limited registration helps safeguard our bloodlines and discourage unethical breeding practices. To support the recognition and growth of our program, we kindly request that each puppy's AKC registered name being with "Tailwind", followed by your name of choice. (Registration paperwork provided).

Proper Care/Maintenance: The Buyer agrees to provide lifelong care, including proper nutrition, regular exercise, safe shelter, routine grooming (including nail trims). Annual veterinary check-ups, vaccinations, ongoing flea, tick, and heart-worm prevention.

Health Warranty

We guarantee that the sire and dam of every puppy we produce have undergone rigorous health testing to the highest standards of the veterinary community. We follow all Labrador  Retriever testing guidelines established by the American Kennel Club, the Labrador Retriever Club, Inc., and the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. Our screening regimen includes hip and elbow radiographs, eye exams by a certified Canine Ophthalmologist, echocardiograms by a Canine Cardiologist, and breed-specific gene panels from Paw Print Genetics or equivalent laboratories. Dogs that do not pass all evaluations are excluded from breeding.

We proudly share testing results upon request - buyers have every right to see them, and we stand behind the care and commitment that goes into our program.

Genetic Health

Your puppy is guaranteed for life against the following genetic diseases (carrier status is excluded, as it does not affect the puppy's health and only applies to breeding animals): Centronuclear Myopathy, Exercise-Induced Collapse, Hereditary Nasal Parakeratosis, Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Progressive Rod-Cone Degeneration, Retinal Dysplasia/Oculoskeletal Dysplasia 1, Skeletal Dysplasia 2, Stargardt Disease, and the D Locus (Dilute) gene.

We do not offer guarantees beyond the listed conditions after the initial 30-day period. Complex diseases like hip and elbow dysplasia are often influenced by environmental, and nutritional factors that are beyond our control once the dog leaves our care. However, by rigorously testing our breeding dogs, we aim to give every puppy the best possible chance for lifelong health.

Parasites or kennel cough are not covered under this health guarantee. Conditions such as worms, giardia, and coccidia are common in young puppies and can easily be transmitted in litters. While all of our puppies receive appropriate deworming, additional treatments may be needed as part of standard veterinary care.

Breeder Recommendations

To support healthy development, we recommend delaying spay/neutering procedures until the puppy is 18-24 months old. If you choose to spay or neuter your puppy, waiting this extended period of time allows for proper bone and muscle growth and full hormone production; helping your dog mature to the Labrador breed standards. Early alteration can increase the risk of serious health issues, including cancers urinary incontinence, hypothyroidism, and joint diseases like hip dysplasia due to prematurely closed growth plates.

We feed all our dogs Purina Pro Plan All Ages 30/20, or Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy. Please follow the feeding guidelines on the package or the recommendations of your veterinarian. We strongly do not recommend grain-free diets or any other unbalanced raw or home cooked meals, as they may lead to serious health complications.
